Winter is a favourite time of the year for plenty of people. And it’s not only for a big amount of holidays like New Year, Christmas, days off, but also because it brings a lot of snow and different rest opportunities such as spending time actively in the mountains. The winter period in the Carpathians is probably the most eventful. The tourists from all the corners of Ukraine and from abroad come here. And they have a good choice. The most popular ski resorts of Ukraine are – Bukovel, Drahobrat, Slavske. There are also ski lifts in Yaremche, Yablunytsia, Vorohta, Kosiv and other Carpathian towns.
Slavske (Slavsko) – is an urban village in Skolivskyi district of Lvivska region. It has a well developed infrastructure. You can find here all the necessary things for a good rest. It is situated in the valley of two rivers – the Opir and the Slavka. The mountains make the circle around the ski resort that’s why there are very comfortable conditions for winter rest. The snow on the slopes lies almost till April. The alpine skiing tracks are situated on the slopes of the mountains Trostian, Pohar, Kremin', Menchil and Vysokyi Verkh. The most popular tracks are on theTrostian mountain. Here there are western, northen, central and eastern slopes. The alpine skiing tracks are of a different level of difficulty. The sport track is made on the central slope.
Mountain Pohar is rather small. It is situated not far from the borough. The easiest alpine skiing tracks are situated on the slopes of the mountain Kremin' – “Politekh” and “FMI”. They are good for the beginners. Mountain Menchil is located in the gorge Varshava. Here there are 4 tracks for the experienced sportsmen. Mountain Vysokyi Verkh is situated near the Volosianka village, 6 km from the urban village Slavske. There are tracks of different difficulty level on its slopes.
The choice of the resort is a private affair of every tourist. Someone traditionally comes to his favourite resort a year by year, where he has already tried all the tracks and knows them well. And the other one probably prefers to get new impressions and see some new resorts. Alpine skiing is not simply a hobby, but the style of life for active people, who love skis or snowboard, snowy slopes, speed and fresh Carpathian air above all. So let’s choose a ski resort, prepare our equipment and go for the new impressions and active rest!
